Since the dawn of mankind, we’ve been hardwired to judge, as in, “I wonder if that sabre-toothed tiger looks hungry,” or “my, that fellow has an awfully big club.” It’s how we’ve survived this long as a species. And while currently sensibilities wisely insist that we look beyond a person’s outward appearance and into their character, a book is an entirely different matter.
