Who is The Lone Monkey?
Anyone can be a writer. Being a good writer, well there’s the rub. Whether or not I am one, only time, exposure, and luck will tell. But as for the craft, it’s not a matter of choice. The desire to write, to be creative, has been simmering through my blood since I can remember and has always dominated my imagination in one way or another. So after a lifetime of false-starts, half-starts, and no-starts, I’ve come at this beast full-throttle and I don’t plan on easing up until I break through that wall, one way or another.
Transported from the streets of London, England to the streets of Toronto, Canada at the age of seven, I have a profound connection to the protagonist of my debut science fiction novel, Sex, Bugs & UFOs. Such an uprooting can leave you feeling alienated (see what I did there) but it can also heighten your self-awareness and make you a keen observer of the human (and not-so-human) condition.
After all, it takes an alien to know an alien…
